The DR Congo international has made a superb start to the current campaign, recording an assist in the Magpies' 2-2 draw against Liverpool after completing a driving run from distance before teeing up Joe Willock's leveller at St. James' Park.

Wissa, who celebrates his 30th birthday today, was on target in last weekend's 2-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur after netting an impressive hooked finish to help United towards their first English top-flight away win since March.

Wissa is named on the seven-man shortlist alongside Arsenal's Riccardo Calafiori, Rayan Cherki of Manchester City, Chelsea duo João Pedro and Cole Palmer, Brentford's Mamadou Sangaré and Konstantinos Tzolakis of Hull City.
