Newcastle United Under-18s’ wait for a league victory in 2022 continues after Burnley struck twice without reply at the weekend.
Michael Mellon opened the scoring for the hosts at their Barnfield training centre, leaving United – who were without leading goalscorer Michael Ndiweni – trailing as they went into the break.
It got worse after the restart, too, as Tremaine Eastmond doubled the Clarets’ advantage on 50 minutes, with the Magpies unable to force a way back into the contest.
Newcastle will now regroup and go in search of that elusive first win of the calendar year when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Little Benton Academy on Saturday morning (11am kick-off).
