Newcastle United Under-18s kicked off their respective Premier League Cup Group G campaign with a 3-2 defeat against Fulham on Saturday.
The Toon teenagers fell behind at Motspur Park following Ma’kel Bogle-Campbell’s strike for the Cottagers before Luke Craggs equalised for the visitors on the stroke of half-time.
Fulham regained the lead through Thomas Olyott’s second-half penalty before the young Magpies responded in bright fashion, levelling the scoring for a second time courtesy of Darren Palmer’s strike, the 17-year-old's second goal in his last three competitive games at under-18 level.
However, Newcastle’s youngsters were dealt a late blow in the capital as Callum Osmand netted Fulham’s eventual match-winner in the closing stages of the cup clash.
Newcastle United Under-18s are to face their Crystal Palace and Liverpool counterparts in Group G of the Under-18 Premier League Cup as they aim to secure a quarter-final berth for the first time since the 2019/20 campaign.
