Newcastle United Under-18s suffered a 4-2 away defeat against their Manchester City counterparts in the Under-18 Premier League North on Wednesday evening.
The Toon teenagers conceded twice in the opening 45 minutes at the City Football Academy, with Luca Fletcher's composed finish breaking the deadlock before the City forward doubled his and City's advantage before the half-time whistle.
Graeme Carrick's side responded in positive fashion as Alfie Harrison, who joined the Magpies from Man City earlier this month, halved the deficit in the 64th minute with his first goal for the club against his former side, firing an impressive low effort into the bottom right-hand corner.
Newcastle Darren Palmer, who scored in the reverse fixture against City 11 days prior, drew the visitors level four minutes later after firing home from Sean Neave's pinpoint pass before Ashton Muir restored City's advantage in the 80th minute, firing home from a tight angle.
United winger Trevan Sanusi, who joined Newcastle from hometown club Birmingham City last summer, went agonisingly close to netting a late equaliser after hitting the crossbar before City confirmed maximum points in the 90th minute courtesy of Matty Warhurst's emphatic finish.
