Newcastle United Under-18s' 100 per cent winning home streak in the Under-18 Premier League North came to an end following a 3-1 defeat against Manchester United on Saturday.
After a goalless first half at the Magpies' Little Benton Academy, Graeme Carrick's side fell behind in the 56th minute following Ethan Williams' low drive from the edge of the penalty area.
Jack Kingdon's own goal drew the hosts level in the closing stages before Newcastle's youngsters trailed for a second time as Ashton Missin's clinical finish quickly restored the Red Devils' one-goal cushion.
Newcastle conceded a third goal in the 90th minute as Jayce Fitzgerald's strike continued Man United's 100 per cent winning league record so far this term.
Newcastle United's under-18 side are in FA Youth Cup action on Wednesday evening, hosting their AFC Bournemouth counterparts at St. James' Park in the fifth round of the prestigious competition (kick-off 7pm GMT).
