Newcastle United Under-18s conceded twice in stoppage-time following a 3-1 home defeat against their Middlesbrough counterparts in the Under-18 Premier League North on Saturday.
The Toon teenagers fell behind inside eight minutes following Frankie Coulson's opener at the Magpies' Little Benton Academy before the hosts were reduced to ten men after the hour mark following Harry Powell's straight red card.
Despite their disadvantage, Newcastle's youngsters drew level in the closing stages courtesy of Logan Watts' leveller.
However, Newcastle were delivered a gutting blow in injury time as Charlie Lennon's restored their one-goal cushion in the 92nd minute before Couslon extended Boro's lead in the final minutes of the Tyne-Tees derby.
Graeme Carrick's side face an away trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, 9th March in their upcoming Under-18 Premier League North clash (kick-off 1pm GMT).
