Newcastle United Under-18s claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory against their Nottingham Forest counterparts in the Under-18 Premier League North on Saturday.
Sean Neave’s quick-fire brace gave the Toon teenagers a dream start at the Magpies’ Little Benton Academy, breaking the deadlock inside eight minutes before doubling his and United’s advantage three minutes later, taking his goalscoring tally to five in his opening three league fixtures at under-18 level.
Graeme Carrick’s side, however, were pegged back to level terms following Isaac Davies’ strike before the half-time break and Connor Brown’s leveller shortly after the restart.
Newcastle netted a late winner in the 85th minute as Ferreria, introduced from the substitutes’ bench at the restart, latched onto Thomas Bryant’s inviting cross at the back post before firing home to seal maximum points in a five-goal thriller.
Newcastle’s youngsters face an away trip to Leeds United in their next Under-18 Premier League North fixture, facing their Whites counterparts at the Thorp Arch Grange on Saturday, 16th September (kick-off 12pm BST).
