Newcastle United Under-18s recorded a fourth consecutive home win in the Under-18 Premier League North following a 3-0 victory against local rivals Sunderland on Saturday.
The Toon teenagers broke the deadlock at the Magpies’ Little Benton Academy inside 21 minutes as Sean Neave continued his eye-catching form in front goal for United’s youngsters, recording his eighth goal in his last nine matches at under-18 level.
The hosts netted twice in the final five minutes of the Under-18 Premier League North clash, with Travis Hernes doubling Newcastle’s advantage in the closing stages before teenage defender Luke Craggs added gloss to the scoreline in the final minutes of the mini Tyne-Wear derby.
Graeme Carrick’s side currently occupy fourth spot in the table after accruing 16 points and sit eight adrift of leaders Manchester United, with Newcastle’s youngsters involved in Under-18 Premier League Cup action on Thursday, 16th November when hosting their Crystal Palace counterparts (kick-off 10.30am GMT).
