Turkish Delight: Derby Strike Tops Charts
Written by Newcastle Utd
Match-winning Sunderland free-kick voted Emre's best for Toon
TURKISH star Emre raised the St.James' Park roof nearly two years ago as his match-winning free-kick sent North East rivals Sunderland back to Wearside empty-handed.
Shola Ameobi had twice headed the Magpies into the lead only to be pegged back by first Liam Lawrence and then Stephen Elliott as the teams went in level at the break.
But midfield magician Emre had other ideas and conjured up a delightful 63rd minute free-kick with what was his maiden strike in black and white colours.
And that goal has been voted Emre's best by nufc.co.uk readers as we bring you the results of our latest poll ...
1st - 51.6% ... Sunderland 3-2 (h) ... Steps up to curl a delightful left-footed free-kick above the Black Cats wall and into the Gallowgate net beyond a despairing Kelvin Davis to win the game with first Toon goal
2nd - 23.9% ... Reading (h) 3-2 ... Wins the ball on halfway and drives United forward before firing dipping left-footer to snatch victory
3rd - 21.9% ... Everton (h) 3-2 ... Picks up loose ball 25 yards out and cracks low drive which nestles in bottom corner
