Experienced referee Andy Woolmer will be the man in the middle when Newcastle entertain Wolves in the EFL Cup

By Dan King - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Andy Woolmer will referee Tuesday night's EFL Cup third round tie between Newcastle United and Wolves.

The experienced official was appointed to the referees list in 2004 and has taken charge of more than 300 Football League games. Before that, he was a Premier League assistant referee for three years and ran the line in the League Cup final in 2003. He was the referee for last season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy final.

Woolmer was the man in the middle when Newcastle drew 1-1 at Swansea in the Championship in February 2010.

So far this season, he has refereed nine games in all competitions, showing 17 yellow cards and no reds.

On Tuesday, he will by assisted by Christopher Akers and Philip Dermott, with Darren Bond the fourth official.
