Mike Jones will referee Newcastle United's Capital One Cup third round clash against Leeds United on Wednesday at St. James' Park (7.45pm kick-off).
It is the first time this season the Cheshire-based official has been in charge of a Magpies' match.
So far this term, the 45-year-old has been appointed to four games across the Premier League and Championship, issuing 16 yellow cards, one red and awarding two penalties.
Jones was promoted to the Football League list of referees in 1997 and went on to take charge of the League Two play-off final and FA Trophy in 2007, before moving into the Select Group which officiates in the top flight.
In May 2012, he was the fourth official for referee Phil Dowd at the FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Liverpool.
On Wednesday at St. James' Park, Jones will be assisted by Mike Mullarkey and Ian Hussin, with Paul Tierney the game's fourth official.
Tickets for the Capital One Cup fixture are still available, starting at just £20 for adults, £10 for students and £5 for concessions. To secure your seat, click here.
