James Perch is satisfied with United's start to the 2012/13 campaign, but insistst there is still plenty of "room for improvement".
The defender has been a regular in the Magpies' line-up over the last eight weeks, playing in a range of positions across a variety of competitions.
Perch and Co successfully navigated a Europa League qualifying round to reach the group stage of the competition, where they have taken four points from their opening two fixtures.
In the Premier League, Newcastle have been solid, if unspectacular, with victories over Tottenham and Norwich, a handful of draws and a couple of defeats at the hands of Chelsea and Manchester United.
And once the international break is over, defender Perch is determined to take performances and results to another level.
"It's been a bit up and down performance-wise," he told nufc.co.uk of the opening two months of the campaign.
"We've pulled off some good results and had a few wobbly performances, but overall I think we can look back and say we are quite happy with what we've done so far.
"It goes without saying though that there's room for improvement and that's what we are intending to do over the next few weeks."
