Anthony Taylor will take charge of Newcastle United's trip to Norwich in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
It will be the third time the Manchester-based official has overseen a Magpies' match this season, having refereed their Capital One Cup third round 2-1 defeat at Manchester United in September, followed by a 1-1 draw away at Liverpool at the start of November.
On that afternoon at Anfield, Taylor booked Davide Santon and showed captain Fabricio Coloccini a straight red card for a late tackle on Luis Suarez.
In total during the 2012/13 campaign, Taylor has been in the middle of 19 fixtures across the Premier League, Capital One Cup, Championship and League One, handing out 33 yellow cards and five reds.
The 34-year-old started refereeing in the Northern Premier League in 2002, and worked his way up through the divisions before being appointed to the Football League list at the start of the 2006/07 season.
His first Premier League appointment came in February 2010, when Fulham beat Portsmouth 1-0, and the whistler was promoted to the Select Group of Referees for the start of the following term.
On Saturday at Carrow Road, Taylor will be assisted by Simon Long and Matthew Wilkes, with Robert Madley the game's fourth official.
