Written by Newcastle Utd

nufc.co.uk takes a look at latest rumours on first morning of Janaury window

This section of nufc.co.uk is merely a record of speculation and does not in any way reflect who Newcastle United may or may not be targeting ...

WITH the transfer window having opened this morning, Newcastle United boss Joe Kinnear is ready to kick off his spending by making an early swoop for Sheffield Unite defender Kyle Naughton, according to the Northern Echo.

They claim that the 20-year-old full-back is one of the most highly-rated defenders outside the Premier League, and the Magpies are ready to table a £1.5m offer for his services.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports that the Geordies are set to bid £5m for Portsmouth midfielder Papa Bouba Diop and are also interested in Blackburn defender Christopher Samba

And The Sun says that Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has told United that reported target Michael Kightly is not for sale.
