Vote For December's Player Of The Month
Written by Newcastle Utd
Which Newcastle United player gets your vote as Player of the Month for December?
December was a mixed time for Newcastle United, who recorded two wins and a draw from a busy month.
Starting with a 1-1 draw away at Burnley, secured by Papiss Cisse's second half strike, the Magpies followed that up with a 2-1 home victory over Chelsea.
Cisse notched twice against the previously-unbeaten Barclays Premier League leaders on a memorable afternoon at St. James' Park.
Next up was two tough trips to North London, first facing Arsenal in the league before taking on Tottenham in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup.
Ayoze Perez headed United's consolation in a 4-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium, while they suffered a 4-0 reversal at White Hart Lane just four days later.
With Christmas approaching, Newcastle went down 1-0 in the Tyne-Wear derby at home to Sunderland, while Boxing Day saw a fourth successive defeat as Cisse's penalty proved no more than a glimmer of hope in a 3-1 loss at Manchester United.
However, the month ended on a high as goals from Cisse, Perez and Jack Colback sealed a 3-2 triumph over Everton on Tyneside.
