Carabao Cup clash in pictures

Newcastle United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, losing on penalties after a 1-1 draw against Leicester City at St. James' Park.

James Maddison's deflected free kick gave the Foxes a first-half lead, but Yoshinori Muto levelled for the Magpies in the 53rd minute.

Steve Bruce felt that Leicester's Hamza Choudhury was lucky to escape with a yellow card after a poor tackle on Matt Ritchie which saw the United man limp off, and meant he was unable to take a spot-kick when the game went straight to penalties after the 90 minutes.

Karl Darlow saved from Harvey Barnes but Jonjo Shelvey and Isaac Hayden saw their efforts blocked by Kasper Schmeichel as the Foxes won 4-2 on penalties.
