In pictures: Brighton beaten at the Red Bull Arena

Geordie Shore took over Jersey Shore as Whitley Bay-born Elliot Anderson scored twice against Brighton in Harrison, New Jersey, on Friday night.

The 20-year-old had already scored in United's opening game of the Premier League Summer Series, against Aston Villa in Philadelphia, and against Gateshead in the Magpies' first match of pre-season.

Eddie Howe's side were trailing to Danny Welbeck's goal at the Red Bull Arena but Anderson struck in the 86th minute to equalise, firing home from close range after a scramble - then he coolly finished after taking Jacob Murphy's pass in his stride in stoppage time to give Newcastle the win.

Upon their return from the Premier League Summer Series, the Magpies will round off their friendly fixtures with home games against Fiorentina and Villarreal on consecutive days on the first weekend of August in the Sela Cup, presented by VisitMalta - tickets are on sale here.

Club photographer Serena Taylor was a Jersey girl for the night as she brought nufc.co.uk this gallery.
