In pictures: Nick Pope's first day on Tyneside

Newcastle United's second signing of the summer arrived on Tyneside on Thursday: England international goalkeeper Nick Pope, who has penned a four-year deal with the Magpies after six years at Burnley.

After undergoing a medical, the 30-year-old headed to St. James' Park to complete the deal and took the opportunity to soak up the history of the magnificent stadium. A boyhood Ipswich Town fan, Pope walked past the statue of Sir Bobby Robson - a legend in East Anglia just as he is on Tyneside - before pulling on United's new 2022/23 goalkeeper shirt for the first time in the home team dressing room.

He gave his first interview to NUFC TV before posing for photographs - including some with the St. George's flag, with the 6ft 6ins shot-stopper hoping to add to his eight England caps and be part of Gareth Southgate's squad for the World Cup in Qatar this winter.
