Delano Burgzorg's second half strike handed Newcastle United a first defeat of pre-season as they were beaten 1-0 by Mainz 05 on Monday.
It was Eddie Howe's men's second and final outing of their training camp in Austria, with United having already beaten 1860 Munich 3-0 on Friday afternoon thanks to strikes from Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff and Bruno Guimarães.
But they couldn't quite find a way through on Monday, despite the efforts of Joelinton and Callum Wilson, with Burgzorg's low finish separating the sides at the Kufstein Arena.
