Saturday's three-all thriller in pictures

Newcastle United took the lead and then came from behind twice as they drew 3-3 with Brentford in a hugely entertaining clash at St. James' Park on Saturday.

And while a point wasn't enough to prevent the Magpies from dropping to the bottom of the Premier League table, there were more than enough encouraging signs that they're good enough to climb out of the bottom three under Eddie Howe.

The new head coach tested positive for Covid-19 on the eve of his first game in charge, so wasn't able to take his place in the dugout, but his front-foot ethos was already evident in much of United's attacking play.

There's still work to be done defensively, but the reaction from the crowd when the players and staff went to show their appreciation at the final whistle showed that the Toon Army liked what they saw. Club photographer Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery from Gallowgate.
