Toon in training: Bruce takes charge of first training session

New Newcastle United head coach Steve Bruce took charge of his first training session in China on Thursday, as the Magpies continue their preparations for Saturday’s Premier League Asia Trophy clash with West Ham United.

United were beaten by Wolves in Nanjing on Wednesday before travelling to Shanghai, where they will face the Hammers at the Hongkou Stadium (kick-off 10am BST/5pm CST).

And Bruce’s side were back out on the training pitch for another two sessions in the heat as attentions turn to their second outing of pre-season.

Youngsters Elias Sørensen, Tom Allan, Matty Longstaff, Kelland Watts and Owen Bailey all made their first team debuts in Nanjing in Newcastle’s Premier League Asia Trophy, and were among the players looking to impress the new head coach ahead of the weekend’s fixture.
