Toon in training: Ready for round four

The Magpies travel to Newport County on Wednesday night for only the fourth ever meeting between the two sides.

And a place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup is at stake for the winners at Rodney Parade - with the League Two side already having made history by reaching this stage of the competition for the first time.

United beat Morecambe 7-0 in the last round, and followed that result up with a draw at Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, but that game saw Matt Ritchie come off with a shoulder injury and he didn't train on Monday morning.

However Allan Saint-Maximin and Ryan Fraser, who both missed the trip to Spurs, took part in the session under Steve Bruce's watchful eye while Fabian Schär continues to push towards a return to action.

Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery.
