Toon in training: United get set for Shrimps

League Two Morecambe stand between Newcastle United and a place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, with the Magpies travelling to the Mazuma Stadium on Wednesday (kick-off 7.45pm BST).

Just as he did for last week's 1-0 victory against Blackburn Rovers, Steve Bruce is likely to make changes to his starting XI, with the likes of Jacob Murphy, Daniel Barlaser and Emil Krafth hoping for an opportunity to shine and Mark Gillespie hoping to build on his debut clean sheet.

Paul Dummett and Fabian Schär are now back in training, too, although Wednesday's game could come too soon for both players. Allan Saint-Maximin did not train on Monday after he injured his ankle in Sunday's defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, while Jamal Lewis was absent after the incident which saw the Seagulls' Yves Bissouma shown a straight red card late in the game.

Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery from United's Benton HQ.
