Toon in training: Warm weather work on Wednesday

Newcastle United's first team squad touched down in Saudi Arabia on Sunday night for a week-long training camp in Jeddah, on the country's western Red Sea coast.

Saturday's win at Leeds was the perfect preparation for the trip, with the players being put through their paces in warm weather ahead of a training game on Friday against Al-Ittihad.

They have been using the Saudi Pro League leaders' training facilities, and Wednesday saw them step up their work ahead of that match with an intense two-hour session.

Captain Jamaal Lascelles, Paul Dummett and Joelinton did not take part due to the injuries they sustained at Elland Road, although all three were present, while Federico Fernández - who has been sidelined since December - took part in some light work away from his team-mates.

There was also the opportunity for the players to enjoy a kickabout with youngsters from the country's Mahd Sports Academy at the end of the session, and club photographer Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery.
