Steve Bruce's side surged into a three-goal lead, with Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernández on target with headers in the first half before Jonjo Shelvey made it three with an inch-perfect free-kick.
And despite a late fightback from the home side, Newcastle deservedly claimed the three points - much to the delight of the 3,000 travelling supporters.
