Away the Lads: De Bolle aiming to continue winning run

The young Magpies travel to West Yorkshire to face their Terriers counterparts, who occupy top spot in Group G, at the John Smith's Stadium having already secured qualification into the last 16 with a game to spare. 

De Bolle - who signed his first professional contract with his boyhood club last summer - is determined for United's youngsters to extend their winning run away from Tyneside to five matches in all competitions.

The 19-year-old central midfielder told nufc.co.uk: "Going into a cup game, knowing we're already into the knockout stages after this match, we'll be looking to build on a good result against Aston Villa.

"It takes the pressure off us. Huddersfield are a good side and knowing that we've already qualified, we can enjoy it a bit but also try things that we might need for the knockout stages.

"It's a game we can still learn from and also gives the chance for some players who haven't played as much or the younger lads. 

"The game is at the stadium, too, which will be a great experience to play at a former Premier League ground. Some of the lads have already played at the stadium before. We got a good result in the Youth Cup last year, winning on penalties. 

"It's always a good experience every time you play in a stadium because the pitch is always nicer and it's where the seniors play first-team football." 

Newcastle's second-string were held to a 1-1 draw in their reverse fixture against Huddersfield in November, with De Bolle registering an assist at Whitley Park.

After netting a total of 11 goals in their last four away trips, the Edinburgh-born youngster - who joined United's Academy in 2015 - believes Newcastle are more than capable of coming out on top against the Terriers.

"They're a good side," the former Wallsend Boys Club product said. "The last time we played them, we didn't play great. They are good in possession but I definitely think it's a winnable game, especially with the form we've been on recently, with just one loss in our last eight games. We're in a good spot to try and win the game.

"The away wins have given the lads a lot of confidence. It's really high in the team and everyone is contributing in both training and games. Having a good away record is important. 

"We're scoring a lot of goals too which shows our quality in the team, especially up front. We've got good players on the ball and composed players who can find a final pass and put the ball in the back of the net."

De Bolle's displays at under-23 level have resulted in training with the first-team, which the youngster believes is having a great significance on his development.

He added: "Training with the first-team has been valuable experience, being around them in training sessions but also in the gym and seeing how they work. You also see how they talk and think in video meetings too and it's been great to learn from those experiences.

"I think I've put in good performances for the under-23s, playing every minute for the last nine games. I think I'm in good form and training with the first-team has been a reward because of that."
