Dodds: If they're not there on Sunday, I'll be having words!

Written by Joseph Nelson

Tyler Dodds says she will be giving her family a good talking to if they don't attend Kingston Park to watch Newcastle United Women take on Burnley Women on Sunday.

The Magpies host the current league leaders in a highly-anticipated FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division encounter and Dodds, who arrived at her childhood club in the summer, is relishing the "massive" fixture on the back of Sunday's 4-0 away triumph at Liverpool Feds.

"Every game for us is a must-win," said the winger. "We want to get promoted.

"We don't want to get complacent at all and, especially playing away, it's always a challenge. Anything can happen and on Sunday, the first half was difficult. We came out second half and showed why we should win games.

"You can't take anything for granted. Having four wins is a massive confidence boost, especially for the weekend ahead."

Over the years, Dodds has played for the likes of Sunderland and Middlesbrough. Being huge Newcastle fans, she expects her family to be there on Sunday for the mouthwatering clash with the Clarets.

"My family mainly come to home games, (and) it's nice to have your full family behind you," she added.

"I am hoping that all of them are there on Sunday and if they are not, I'll be having words!"

Another of Becky Langley's summer arrivals, Bridget Galloway, has been in inspired form at the start of the new campaign, scoring nine goals in just six matches in all competitions.

Dodds played with the striker at youth level and says she has always played with the same confidence and desire that she is showing in the black and white stripes.

"She has always been that type of player," said the winger.

"I think you need a striker like that. If someone is shying away, how are you going to score?

"She will put her body on the line for anything. I know when or where I cross the ball, she is attempting to get on the end of it. She is fearless."

Tickets for Newcastle United Women's clash with Burnley Women on Sunday are priced at just £5 for adults and £1 for concessions. The game will also be broadcast live on NUFC TV.
