England to referee Magpies' Fulham trip

Darren England has been confirmed as the referee for Newcastle United's Premier League trip to Fulham on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm BST).

Eddie Howe's side return to competitive action following the international break, aiming to record their first Premier League away win of the 2022/23 campaign, and this will be the first time England has officiated a game involving Newcastle this season.

The Doncaster-born official was the man in the middle for two of Newcastle's Premier League fixtures last term after overseeing United's 1-1 draw away at Crystal Palace in October. He handed out seven players that afternoon, booking Jamaal Lascelles, Callum Wilson, Joelinton and Matt Ritchie.

The Yorkshire whistler, added to the 2022 FIFA List of International Match Officials in December 2021, was also in charge of the Magpies' 2-0 home win over Arsenal in May but booked no Newcastle players during the league encounter at St. James' Park.
