Langley: 'We want to keep raising the bar'

Becky Langley was left thrilled as Newcastle United Women put on a show for their travelling contingent to round off a fantastic campaign at the weekend.
Newcastle recorded an impressive 4-0 away win against West Bromwich Albion Women which took their total to 19 victories for the season and saw the team finish on an incredible 59 points.
But Sunday's win was about more than just the result, with two local Lasses who have been a huge part of the team's journey getting on the scoresheet in Redditch.
"It was a fantastic game and a nice way to end it off with that second half," Langley said after her side scored four times after the break to sign off on a high note.
"I'm so delighted to see two Geordies in Anna Soulsby and Sharna Wilkinson score the last two goals.
"Anna's been at the club for six or seven years now and it just means so much to her because she's a big fan of Newcastle United, so for her to win the penalty and then step up and score it means so much to her personally."
Tyler Dodds and Kacie Elson were also on target at the Valley Stadium on Sunday after a goalless first half.
While the performances and results on the pitch have caught the eye of observers up and down the country, United's fans have more often than not stolen the show off the pitch too, outnumbering countless opposition supporters home and away in both league and cup matches.
"Honestly, our fans are absolutely tremendous," Langley told newcastleunited.com. "They've been incredible, supporting us home and away all season.
"From the crowds we've had at St. James' Park and Kingston Park to other games which stick in my mind such as Manchester United away in the FA Cup and both Burnley and Nottingham Forest away.
"Our fans have travelled in their numbers, bringing buses full to our games, and then against West Brom it was just full of black and white and that's such a pleasure for us all to see."
Just three defeats across all competitions demonstrate just how big United's achievements of the 2023/24 season have been.
It hasn't been by chance, however - there has been plenty of hard work and countless amounts of hours put in behind the scenes from the players and staff.
"I'm absolutely buzzing with the season," added Langley. "It's taken a lot for us all to transition from part-time to full-time.
"It's been about all the hard yards with the players and staff to help us achieve this outcome.
"We now just want to keep raising the bar and that's what we'll do in the off-season by making positive steps to ensure we're competing in the Championship next season.
"Now though, it'll be good to enjoy our end-of-season presentation this week and enjoy the moment with our owners, players and staff who've all grafted really hard this season."
