Loan Watch: Barlaser opens Rotherham account

On-loan Rotherham United midfielder Dan Barlaser opened his account for the Millers on Saturday as he kick-started their comeback from two goals down at MK Dons.

The 22-year-old, who is on loan at the New York Stadium until the end of the season, rounded goalkeeper Lee Nicholls and beat defender Baily Cargill in a challenge to tap home his first goal for the club on 66 minutes.

Barlaser’s strike made it 2-1, with Alex Gilbey and Joe Mason having put the Dons two up, but Freddie Ladapo’s brace then completed the turnaround for Paul Warne’s side, handing them the victory which moves them up to fourth in League One.

Gateshead-born Barlaser, who spent last term on loan at Accrington Stanley, played the full 90 minutes for the Millers.

Some of the Magpies other loanees didn’t fare quite as well, though, with Jacob Murphy’s Sheffield Wednesday beaten 2-1 at West Bromwich Albion in the Championship.

Murphy played the full game for the Owls, while Freddie Woodman lined up for Swansea City against Millwall, but Jed Wallace’s free kick won it for the Lions.

Rolando Aarons came off the bench for the final quarter of an hour of Wycombe’s eventual 1-0 win over Doncaster Rovers at the weekend, with Joe Jacobson’s late penalty sealing the win for Gareth Ainsworth’s men.

In League Two, left back Liam Gibson played the full 90 minutes of Grimsby Town’s 2-0 loss to Northampton Town, but Elias Sørensen missed out on Carlisle United’s 0-0 draw with Cambridge United.

Stevenage’s Kelland Watts also missed his side’s goalless draw at Walsall through injury, while neither Nathan Harker (Blyth Spartans) nor Achraf Lazaar (Cosenza) featured for their respective loan clubs over the weekend.
