Loan Watch: Fraser bags late winner for Saints

A round-up of the weekend's action involving the Magpies' loanees...

Ryan Fraser

Scotland winger Fraser made a big impact for Southampton in their Championship clash at Hull City on Saturday.

The 29-year-old replaced fellow Scot Stuart Armstrong with just six minutes left and the score level at 1-1, and deep into stoppage time, he arrived in the box on cue to turn home Flynn Downes' cross from the right to win it for the Saints in the 95th minute. It was Fraser's first goal since he netted for the Magpies in a 2-1 win over Brighton in March 2022.

Yankuba Minteh

In-form wideman Minteh started again for Feyenoord against Vitesse Arnhem at the weekend, but was withdrawn with quarter of an hour remaining in what ended in a 4-0 victory for Arne Slot's men.

Isaac Hayden

Holding midfielder Hayden anchored Standard Liège in their home game against Anderlecht in the Belgian top flight on Sunday. They fell two goals behind but seven minutes after the break they began to mount a fightback, with Steven Alzate, Hayao Kawabe and Nathan Ngoy all netting to seal a memorable win for the hosts. Hayden played the full 90 minutes.

Garang Kuol

The Australian frontman was taken off after 78 minutes of FC Volendam's Eredivise game at RKC Waalwijk, and subsequently his side conceded two late goals and were beaten 2-1.

Jamal Lewis

Left back Lewis started for Watford in their Championship game against Sheffield Wednesday, but was taken off after 55 minutes of the eventual 1-0 win.

Jeff Hendrick

Hendrick, meanwhile, lined up against Lewis at Vicarage Road, picking up a yellow card in the Owls' defeat and being substituted for the final few minutes.

Harrison Ashby

The former West Ham full back was an unused substitute in Swansea City's 3-1 home defeat to Leicester City in the second tier.

Kell Watts

Watts, another young defender, wasn't in the Wigan Athletic squad for their 2-1 win at Exeter City in League One.

Max Thompson

Teenage goalkeeper Thompson didn't make it off the bench in Northampton Town's 2-1 defeat at Bolton Wanderers in the third tier.

Joe White

Carlisle-born White played the first hour for Crewe Alexandra at Crawley Town on Saturday, setting up Shilow Tracey for his side's first goal 20 minutes in. The Alex went on to record a 4-2 win in League Two.

Matty Bondswell

Bondswell made a late substitute appearance for Newport County in their 3-3 draw at home to Walsall, entering the fray for the final five minutes.
