Ticket details

Birmingham-born Marriner is one of the top flight's most experienced officials, and first refereed a Newcastle game back in April 2005, when Graeme Souness' United side lost 2-1 at Norwich City.

Since then the 52-year-old has been a Premier League regular and also spent eight years as a FIFA-listed official between 2009 and 2017. Marriner also has an FA Cup final appointment - for Wigan's win over Manchester City in 2013 - on his CV.

Thursday night's contest will be the second time he has overseen a Magpies match on Merseyside so far this term, having also refereed Eddie Howe's side's 2-1 defeat at Liverpool back in August.
