Eddie Howe's side will head to the capital this weekend in a confident mood after extending their unbeaten Premier League streak to six matches on Wednesday night following a 1-0 home victory against Everton and this will be the second time the Australian official has overseen a fixture involving the Magpies this term.

The Queensland-born whistler was the man in the middle for United's thrilling 3-3 draw against Manchester City at St. James' Park in August 2022 and handed out six yellow cards that afternoon, booking Bruno Guimarães, Fabian Schär, Joelinton and Kieran Trippier, with the latter receiving a straight red card before Gillett downgraded it following a VAR review.

The 35-year-old, who made history last season after becoming the first overseas referee to take charge of an English top-flight fixture during Newcastle's 1-1 draw away at Watford in September 2021, was promoted to the Select Group in June 2021 and also oversaw Newcastle's 2-1 victory against Leicester City back in April 2022.
