Nelson: Contributing is important to me

The flying winger was on the scoresheet twice at Bradford City Women last weekend, as Becky Langley's side usurped Durham Cestria at the summit of the FA Women's National League Division One North with a 6-0 triumph at the University of Bradford Stadium.

With just one game to play, goal difference separates the two North East teams at the top of the table, with United ten ahead of their title rivals going into the final weekend.

"It's a class feeling (to win)," Nelson told nufc.co.uk following the match. "We are just pushing one game at a time and (are focused on) getting the goal difference up.

"Scorelines like that just show the mindset in the camp right now; we want to win and be relentless with it."

Nelson opened the scoring in West Yorkshire on Sunday before adding a further goal just before half time, while Georgia Gibson also scored twice and efforts from Beth Guy and Millie Bell ensured the final result was emphatic.

Having assisted in the recent 5-1 victory at Leeds as well, the 21-year-old believes her final product - something she prides herself on - is improving all the time.

"I am buzzing to get on the scoresheet," she added. "Every goal counts at the moment and contributing to the goal difference was important to me.

"I always work on my final product. As a winger, I want to create and contribute to the goals and assists.

"In the last two weeks, I feel like I've started to get there with my final product after being out and trying to get back from injury (for much of the campaign).

"To come back from injury and help contribute to the team was always my end goal."
