Newcastle United supports No Room For Racism campaign
Newcastle United is continuing its support of the Premier League's No Room For Racism campaign this weekend, with players symbolically taking the knee before kick-off to highlight unity against all forms of racism.
The club's commitment to celebrating diversity and promoting inclusion will be showcased at Saturday's game against Liverpool in partnership with the Premier League.
The club's bespoke brand, United As One, positively influences and educates, and we encourage all supporters to report any incidents of alleged discrimination so that these can be investigated and actioned.
Where discriminatory conduct is evidenced, we do not hesitate to take appropriate action aligned to the Premier League's commitment regarding discriminatory and abusive conduct.
In recent months, as a result of reports from supporters, we have issued the following bans to individuals found to have used racist or abusive language during a game:
* A 59-year-old person from Newcastle received a three-season stadium home and away match ban for using racially discriminatory language directed at a Chelsea player at the Newcastle United v Chelsea match on 12th November, 2022.
* A 51-year-old person from South Shields received a three-season stadium home and away match ban for using racially discriminatory language directed at stewards at the Newcastle United v Aston Villa match on 29th October, 2022.
* A 31-year-old person from Washington, Tyne and Wear, received a three-season stadium home and away match ban for using racially discriminatory language directed at a Leeds player at the Newcastle United v Leeds United match on 31st December, 2022.
* A 17-year-old person from Cramlington received a three-season stadium home and away match ban for using racially discriminatory language directed at a Fulham player at the Newcastle United v Fulham match on 15th January, 2023.
* A 29-year-old person from Newcastle received a three-season stadium home and away match ban for using racially discriminatory language directed at Chelsea players at the Newcastle United v Chelsea match on 12th November, 2022.
* A 28-year-old person from Derbyshire received a three-season stadium home and away match ban for using homophobic language directed at Brighton spectators at the Newcastle United v Brighton & Hove Albion match on 5th March, 2022.
* A 59-year-old person from Northumberland received a three-season stadium home and away match ban for using homophobic language directed at an Everton player at the Newcastle United v Everton match on 19th October, 2022.
* A 51-year-old person from Newcastle received a three-season stadium home and away match ban for using racially discriminatory language directed at stewards at the Newcastle United v AFC Bournemouth match on 20th December, 2022.
Speaking on the club's inclusion, equality and diversity work, CEO Darren Eales, said: "Newcastle United is committed to making St. James' Park and football a safe place for all. Our supporters play a big role in helping us to create an all-inclusive environment by reporting incidents of discrimination. We would like to thank everybody for playing their part."
If anyone witnesses any discriminatory behaviour whilst attending a match, please report this immediately where possible by contacting the nearest steward.
