NUFC TV to stream Sunday's friendly at York City

Sunday's pre-season friendly at York City will now be streamed live on NUFC TV and Newcastle United's official YouTube channel.

The Minstermen had planned to broadcast the game but due to logistical difficulties caused by Covid-19, and beyond the National League North club's control, are now unable to do so.

With no away fans permitted, and the limited number of tickets for home fans sold out, the Magpies have stepped in to ensure that supporters not able to be at the LNER Community Stadium can still watch the match.

The stream will be free of charge - although supporters are still welcome to donate to York's 'virtual turnstile' - and, due to the short notice, single-camera only. The commentator will be BBC Newcastle's Matthew Raisbeck.

Kick-off at the LNER Community Stadium is at 2pm (BST) and the broadcast will start from 1.30pm, with coverage beginning from 1.55pm.

York are managed by former Magpies favourite Steve Watson and supporters can watch via NUFC TV or United's official YouTube channel.

The home club will be producing a matchday programme for the fixture, which can be bought in advance here (collection only). There will also be a digital version which will be able to purchase on the day of the game.

Steve Bruce will be splitting his squad for two friendlies on Sunday, with the Magpies also in action at Harrogate Town - also at 2pm.

The Sulphurites will be broadcasting that game. Passes are £10 each and available to purchase here.

Due to Covid-19 regulations and a reduced capacity at the EnviroVent Stadium, Town have announced that areas usually reserved for away supporters currently fall within the 'red zone' so there will be no away ticket allocation, while all home tickets are sold out.
