Reagan stars against Sweden

Written by Dan King

Newcastle United youngster Reagan Thomson helped Scotland's under-17s beat their Swedish counterparts on Monday.

The 16-year-old, who joined the Magpies on a scholarship contract from Queen's Park last month, won his fifth international cap as he came off the bench at the Pinatar Arena in Spain. He replaced Adam Brooks of Celtic in the 61st minute.

Thomson had scored a first goal for his country in a 1-1 draw with Hungary on Friday.

He will now hope to be named in Brian McLaughlin's squad for the UEFA European Under-17 Championship Elite Round next month, which will see Scotland face Republic of Ireland, Slovakia and Czech Republic as they bid to earn their place in the finals in May.
