Six of the best for Schär's Switzerland

Written by Dan King

Fabian Schär played the full game and set up two goals as Switzerland beat Iceland 6-0 in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday.

The defender, who joined United from Deportivo La Coruña in the summer, was part of a dominant Swiss performance in St. Gallen and laid on his side's second and fourth goals as well as picking up a yellow card. His assist for the fourth goal, scored by Haris Seferovic, was a sublime backheel into the path of the Benfica forward.

Former Newcastle defender Kevin Mbabu made his international debut for Switzerland.

Elsewhere on Saturday, DeAndre Yedlin completed 90 minutes for the USA as they lost 2-0 to Brazil in a friendly, Salomón Rondón played the whole game as Venezuela were beaten 2-1 by Colombia, also in a friendly, and Christian Atsu was involved throughout as Ghana were surprisingly beaten 1-0 by Kenya in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

On Friday, Ki Sung-yueng played for the opening 45 minutes of South Korea's 2-0 friendly win against Costa Rica, and Sunday saw Martin Dúbravka start for Slovakia against Ukraine in the UEFA Nations League.

He was beaten by an 80th minute penalty from Andriy Yarmolenko as his side - which also featured former Magpie Lubo Satka - lost 1-0.

Paul Dummett was an unused substitute as Wales lost 2-0 to Denmark.
