Team news: Full backs return

Javier Manquillo and Danny Rose both return for Newcastle United as the Magpies take on Brighton & Hove Albion in their final away game of the campaign.

Manquillo was an unused substitute against Spurs at St. James’ Park on Wednesday, while Rose was ineligible to play against his parent club. The former takes over from Emil Krafth at right back, but with United’s defensive options scarce, the Swede keeps his place in the side – partnering Federico Fernández at centre half.

Otherwise, Newcastle are unchanged from the team beaten 3-1 by José Mourinho’s side, with Allan Saint-Maximin fit to start after overcoming the calf injury he picked up in that game.

Among United’s substitutes at the Amex Stadium is 20-year-old Kelland Watts, who was part of the squad who took part in last summer’s Premier League Asia Trophy but has yet to appear competitively for the club at first-team level.

Yoshinori Muto, Joelinton and the returning Andy Carroll are among a trio of attacking players available to Steve Bruce on the bench.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka, Javier Manquillo, Emil Krafth, Federico Fernández, Danny Rose, Matt Ritchie, Nabil Bentaleb, Jonjo Shelvey, Allan Saint-Maximin, Miguel Almirón, Dwight Gayle.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, DeAndre Yedlin, Kelland Watts, Valentino Lazaro, Matty Longstaff, Christian Atsu, Yoshinori Muto, Joelinton, Andy Carroll.
