Team news: Wilson starts as Bruce rings the changes

Callum Wilson returns to Newcastle United's starting XI as Steve Bruce shuffles his pack for the Magpies' Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The striker, who has already scored six Premier League goals for Newcastle this term, is fit to face the Eagles this evening (kick-off 8pm GMT) after sitting out United's home defeat to Chelsea last week due to a hamstring injury sustained against Southampton.

The forward is one of four changes to the side which were beaten 2-0 by Frank Lampard's Blues at St. James' Park last week, with stand-in skipper Jonjo Shelvey starting for the Magpies along with Jeff Hendrick and Miguel Almirón, all of whom were substitutes against Chelsea.

Karl Darlow continues in between the sticks as Bruce reverts to a four-man backline, with club captain Jamaal Lascelles, who suffered a thigh injury against Chelsea, unavailable to face Palace as Federico Fernández and Ciaran Clark keep their places in the heart of the defence, with Javier Manquillo and Jamal Lewis occupying the full-back positions.

Almirón, a second-half substitute against Chelsea, returns to the starting line-up with the Paraguayan, along with Brazilian forward Joelinton, aiming to provide support for Wilson up front.

Matt Ritchie is named on the substitutes' bench and is part of the Magpies' matchday squad for the first time since suffering a acromioclavicular joint injury at Tottenham Hotspur in September.

Jacob Murphy is unable to keep his place in the starting XI and joins Ritchie on the bench along with Matty Longstaff, Fabian Schär and DeAndre Yedlin while 18-year-old Elliot Anderson is named on the bench for the first time in a Premier League fixture.

Newcastle United: Karl Darlow, Javier Manquillo, Federico Fernández, Ciaran Clark, Jamal Lewis, Jonjo Shelvey (c), Sean Longstaff, Jeff Hendrick, Miguel Almirón, Joelinton, Callum Wilson.

Substitutes: Mark Gillespie, DeAndre Yedlin, Fabian Schär, Matt Ritchie, Matty LongstaffJacob Murphy, Elliot Anderson.
