Eddie Howe's side make the trip to the capital aiming to complete the double over Mikel Arteta's Gunners following a 1-0 victory at St. James' Park in November and this will be the first time Tierney has officiated a fixture involving the Magpies this term.

The Wigan-born whistler was the man in the middle for three of Newcastle's matches during the 2022/23 campaign, overseeing United's 2-1 away win at Nottingham Forest, awarding a stoppage-time penalty which was converted by Alexander Isak as well as handing out six yellow cards at the City Ground, booking Dan Burn.

A FIFA listed referee since 2018, Tierney also took charge of Newcastle's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg clash against Southampton, sending off Magpies midfielder Bruno Guimarães during a 2-1 win at St. James' Park as well as Newcastle's 4-0 home victory against Aston Villa, booking a total of two players that day, including Joelinton.

In the 20 games Tierney has officiated so far this term, the 2023 Emirates FA Cup final referee has shown 74 yellow cards and three red cards.
