Willems wins NUFC TV Goal of the Season award

The Dutchman was nominated twice for the award - for his strikes against Liverpool and Manchester City - but it was his stunner at Anfield which came out on top with 31 per cent of the vote.

Willems gave the Magpies the lead against the eventual runaway champions last September as he cut in from the left, wrong-footing Trent Alexander-Arnold with a wonderful piece of skill, before arrowing the ball into the top corner with his weaker right foot.

And although United went on to lose 3-1, the goal was shortlisted for the Premier League's Budweiser goal of the month award and has now won the annual NUFC TV prize.

Fabian Schär won the award for 2018/19, for his spectacular long-range strike against Burnley, while Ayoze Pérez had won the trophy for the previous two seasons, for his goals against Leicester in 2017/18 and Ipswich in 2016/17.
