Wilson named FUN88 Player of the Month for May
Callum Wilson has been named as May's FUN88 Player of the Month after the Newcastle United forward enjoyed a fine end to the 2022/23 campaign.
The Magpies striker - who also picked up the award for April - has bagged back-to-back Player of the Month gongs after a strong finish to the season, with the frontman's double earning Eddie Howe's side a point at Leeds last month.
Wilson also netted one and provided an assist in the 4-1 thrashing of Brighton at St. James' Park which left Newcastle on the brink of a Champions League place, and the number nine then featured as United booked their place in Europe's premier club competition with a goalless draw at home to Leicester four days later.
"It was a massive month for us all, and it's great to secure Champions League football," he told nufc.co.uk.
"We had a big month in April so it was important to take that into May and finish the season strongly. We had a big week with two games against Brighton and Leicester and it was important to get those points on the board and lock in that top four place.
"To do it at St. James' Park in front of our fans made it even more special because they have been unreal all season for us."
