Newcastle United Women rounded off their title-winning season in the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division with an emphatic 4-0 win away to West Bromwich Albion Women.

United were left frustrated in the first half and went into the break level on terms, but they came out for the restart firing and made sure of all three points with goals from Tyler Dodds, Kacie Elson, Sharna Wilkinson and a late Anna Soulsby penalty.

The Lasses were ruthless in the second period and could have scored even more if it wasn't for an inspired Anna Miller performance in the Albion goal.

Newcastle came flying out of the traps, testing Miller early on with two ferocious shots on goal from just inside the area by Georgia Gibson and Emma Kelly.

United were almost rewarded for their bright start with an opening goal after five minutes when a bouncing ball fell to the feet of Elson, who could only watch as her half-volley crashed off the post.

Katie Barker - gunning for the league's golden boot - found herself through one-on-one with Miller two minutes later as she latched onto an Olivia Watt through ball.

However, United's number nine snatched at the ball and sent her close-range effort well over Miller's crossbar.

United continued to carve open the West Brom defence at will as Elysia Boddy's through ball picked out Doods who - despite beating the defender - could only fire straight at Miller.

Albion began to grow into the game just before the half-hour mark and started to press the United backline which allowed Steph Weston to send a 25-yard effort whistling over the bar.

But United were raring to go from kick-off in the second half when Barker held up a long ball forward before teeing up Dodds on the right wing.

United's number seven composed herself and looked to whip in a dangerous cross but it ended up carrying over Miller and dropping into the far corner.

Newcastle managed to cause havoc in the West Brom box and double their lead on the hour mark. Miller failed to collect a Gibson header, allowing Elson to volley home into an empty net.

As the Baggies looked to get back into the game United caught them on the break with less than 20 minutes left to play.

Wilkinson flicked on a Boddy through ball into the path of Jasmine McQuade who returned the favour, leaving United's number 14 the task of side-footing the ball beyond Miller to round off a stunning counter-attack.

Hannah Reid was keen to keep her second consecutive clean sheet when she sprung to her right and got a fingertip to Jannelle Starker's header to force it onto the post.

Newcastle continued to strive for more goals and with just two minutes left to play Soulsby was brought down in the box, before she stepped up and smashed the ball past Miller who dived to her right.

Newcastle United Women: Hannah Reid, Olivia Watt, Hannah Greenwood, Jodie Bartle, Tyler Dodds (Anna Soulsby 58), Emma Kelly, Elysia Boddy, Georgia Gibson (c) (Sharna Wilkinson 69), Beth Lumsden (Jasmine McQuade 69), Kacie Elson (Paige Bailey-Gayle 78), Katie Barker (Bridget Galloway 69)
