Teenage goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has joined League Two side Crawley Town on loan.
The 18-year-old will remain at the Broadfield Stadium until Sunday, 3rd January, and the temporary spell will provide him with the opportunity to experience senior competitive football for the first time.
One of the most highly-rated young shot stoppers in the country, Woodman made his second-string debut for Newcastle at the age of just 14 and has since gone on to catch the eye for the Club's under-18 and under-21 sides.
Last season, Woodman was named on the substitutes' bench for the first-team on a number of occasions, although is yet to make his competitive Magpies bow.
He has, however, turned out three times for United during pre-season - against Gateshead, Sacramento Republic and Portland Timbers - keeping a pair of clean sheets in the process.
Woodman is a current England under-19 international who, along with Newcastle teammate Adam Armstrong, helped the Young Lions win the 2014 UEFA Under-17 European Championship.
