Loan Watch: Ashby nets first senior goal for Swansea

A round-up of the weekend's action involving the Magpies' loanees, including a first senior goal and a handful of debuts...

Harrison Ashby

Ashby started for Swansea City in their Championship clash at Preston and just after the hour, the Magpies full back netted his first senior goal to put his side ahead - a crisp first-time finish at the back post from Charlie Patino's cross.

The hosts fought back though, with Andrew Hughes and Duane Holmes' strikes after the break earning a comeback win at Deepdale, meaning Ashby - who was withdrawn ten minutes from the end - missed out on marking his milestone moment with a victory.

Ryan Fraser

Fraser joined Southampton on loan until the end of the season last week, and made his debut for the Saints as a 56th-minute substitute in their 2-1 home win over Queens Park Rangers in the second tier.

Sam Edozie had put the hosts in front at St. Mary's before United old boys Jack Colback and Adam Armstrong both netted, resulting in a 2-1 victory for Russell Martin's men, who maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign on the South Coast.

Jay Turner-Cooke

The young midfielder was thrust straight into the thick of the action for St. Johnstone as he lined up for the Perth outfit at Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Turner-Cooke - who spent time on loan at Tranmere Rovers last term - enjoyed a promising debut as his side secured a point from their trip to face the champions, with the Newcastle youngster lasting 82 minutes before being replaced.

Cameron Ferguson

The tall forward, who is the son of former United and Everton frontman Duncan Ferguson, made his senior debut for Forfar Athletic, entering the fray as a half time replacement in their Scottish League Two clash with Bonnyrigg Rose.

Ferguson couldn't help his new side take the points, however, as they suffered a 2-1 home defeat.

Max Thompson

Goalkeeper Thompson continued his promising start to life in senior football as he kept a clean sheet for Northampton Town in their 1-0 win at Cheltenham Town in League One.

That means it is now two clean sheets in four league outings for the teenage stopper, who seems to have secured his spot as the Cobblers' number one.

Kell Watts

The centre back returned to the starting line-up for Wigan Athletic at the weekend and got 90 minutes under his belt, but he couldn't prevent the Latics from slipping to a 2-0 home loss at the hands of Barnsley.

Yankuba Minteh

Minteh made his first Eredivisie start for Dutch giants Feyenoord on Sunday, lining up on the right-hand side of their forward line.

It was a successful afternoon for Arne Slot's side as they recorded an emphatic 6-1 victory over Almere City at De Kuip, with Gambian youngster Minteh playing just over an hour before being substituted.

Matty Bondswell

Left full back Bondswell was part of the Newport County squad for their League Two clash with Sutton United on Saturday, but didn't make it off the bench as the Exiles won 3-1.

Jamal Lewis

Northern Ireland international Lewis is still waiting for his Watford debut after an ongoing calf issue kept him out of their 1-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.
