Matty Longstaff made his Aberdeen debut on Sunday, as the Dons earned a 1-1 draw at home to Ross County.
The 21-year-old, who joined the Scottish Premiership side on loan until the end of the season last week, was handed a start at Pittodrie by their manager, the former Newcastle midfielder Stephen Glass.
Longstaff lined up alongside Scott Brown in the Dons’ engine room but was replaced by Jay Emmanuel-Thomas after 64 minutes, with the hosts looking to level the scores after Regan Charles-Cook’s opener for the visitors.
Christian Ramirez’s late equaliser eventually earned Glass’ men a point, and Longstaff will now hope to retain his place when his team travel to Motherwell on Saturday, 11th September.
It was a good weekend for Kell Watts, meanwhile, as he got 90 minutes under his belt for Wigan Athletic in their 1-0 win over Portsmouth in League One.
Callum Lang’s second half winner gave the Latics the points, with Watts helping his side record a clean sheet at the DW Stadium.
But in League Two, another pair of United loanees didn’t make it off the bench, with goalkeeper Jake Turner an unused substitute in Colchester United’s 1-1 draw at Rochdale on Friday and Lewis Cass remaining on the sidelines for the duration of Port Vale’s 2-0 win at Forest Green on Saturday.
