Loan watch: Two in two for Longstaff

Written by Dan King

Matty Longstaff scored in a second successive game as Mansfield Town equalled a club record of ten straight home victories on Friday night.

Midfielder Longstaff, 21, was on target in the Stags' away win at Bradford last weekend and struck again against promotion rivals Exeter City at the One Call Stadium.

Nigel Clough's side took the lead in the first half when Longstaff's cross fell kindly for defender Farrend Rawson to poke home.

Then in the 67th minute the Newcastle United man went one better, blasting the ball beyond Cameron Dawson from inside the box.

After Longstaff had been substituted in the 79th minute, Matt Jay scored a late consolation for the visitors but Mansfield - unbeaten in their last 14 games - are now up to third in League Two.

Former England under-20 international Longstaff joined the Yellows on loan in January, having spent the first half of the campaign in the Scottish Premiership with Aberdeen.
