Eddie Howe’s side travel to the East Midlands aiming to extend their unbeaten Premier League streak to six matches but face a Wolves side, currently five points adrift of the Magpies, who have won two of their last three English top-flight fixtures, including an impressive 2-1 triumph over champions Manchester City.

The 45-year-old, who made his first Premier League appointment as a referee in 2010, was the man in the middle for two of Newcastle’s fixtures during the 2022/23 campaign, overseeing the Magpies’ 2-0 home defeat against Liverpool in February in which the Cheshire-based official handed out three cards that evening, notably sending off United goalkeeper Nick Pope as well as booking Miguel Almirón.

A FIFA listed referee since 2013, Taylor also took charge of Newcastle’s 3-1 win against Southampton at St. James’ Park, booking a total of five players that day, including Joelinton.

So far in the 14 fixtures Taylor has officiated so far this term, the 2023 Europa League final referee has shown 67 yellow cards and two red cards, sending off Man City midfielder Rodri during a 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest as well as Barcelona’s Gavi in the Catalan Giants' 1-0 win at Porto in the UEFA Champions League group stages.
