Elliot Anderson will make his first Premier League start for Newcastle United in this afternoon's Premier League clash with Liverpool (kick-off 5.30pm GMT)

He comes in for the injured Joe Willock in the only change to the starting XI from last weekend's draw at AFC Bournemouth.

The 20-year-old from Whitley Bay has made 11 league appearances for his boyhood club in the Premier League - ten of them this season - but all have come from the bench.

But with Willock recovering from the hamstring injury which forced him off at the Vitality Stadium seven days ago, Anderson gets his opportunity from the start against the Reds.

Nick Pope is in goal, as he has been for every one of United's top-flight matches this term, while Kieran Trippier captains the side. Sven Botman, Fabian Schär and Dan Burn complete the defence.

Sean Longstaff and Joelinton join Anderson in midfield, with Miguel Almirón - who scored his tenth goal of the campaign at Bournemouth - and Allan Saint-Maximin supporting Alexander Isak, who netted when the two sides met at Anfield in August.

That controversial defeat remains United's only league loss of the season so far. Liverpool won 1-0 at St. James' Park in April and are the last team to beat Newcastle on Tyneside.

Callum Wilson, who missed last weekend's match, is among the substitutes.

Martin Dúbravka is the back-up goalkeeper and alongside him on the bench are former Liverpool man Javier Manquillo, Paul Dummett, Jamaal Lascelles, Jamal Lewis, Anthony Gordon, Matt Ritchie and Jacob Murphy.
